A visit to a winery with the help of M.J., where I was able to capture images of an international wine connoisseur, agricultural chemists, and plant workers. Another stop at a community center where passionate volunteers meet to discuss improvements for the farmers market.

A journey through Tulare County becomes a tour of what the food we eat everyday looks like before it hits the supermarket, reminding me that too often we forget how agricultural production is complicated by the social and political points of view that each of us carry.

For now, my labors  are committed to painting individuals that contribute to agriculture in Visalia. 16 portraits down, 44 to go. The 5″x5″ individually sandblasted Plexiglass surfaces are painted with water based paint.  The photographs taken during my trip and conversations exchanged as a result serve as reference for the paintings.
